Soap dish, 5.75 x 5.75 x 4 inches. Blue transfer. Printed maker's mark for E. & C. Challinor. This botanical pattern feature waterlilies with orchids and foliage on the lid and a ring of orchids and foliage around the body. The border around the rim of the insert features a ring of cattails.
E. & C. Challinor were earthenware and ironstone manufacturers at the Fenton Potteries in Fenton, Staffordshire, England. The partners were Edward and Charles Challinor. Charles had many other business interests and also owned a nearby ‘Stilt & Spur Works’ and the Glebe Colliery. Concurrently, there was the partnership of Challinor & Mayer at the same factory. From 1892, Charles continued the business as C. Challinor & Co.
