Vase, 5.5 inches tall (14cm). Brown transfer. Printed maker's mark for J. H. & S. It's possible this stands for the firm Jones, Hopkinson & Sherwin of the Renalagh Works in Hanley. They were in operation c. 1885-1891. This simple sheet pattern consists of highly-stylized sinuous stems with flowers, leaves, and buds.
J. H. & S. - The partners were William and Thomas Jones, Frederick Ambrose Hopkinson and David Sherwin. F. A. Hopkinson retired in August 1887. The business continued with the name Jones, Hopkinson & Sherwin. The partnership was dissolved in August 1891 and David Sherwin continued in his own account.
