Plate, 10.5 inches diameter. Blue transfer. Unknown maker - the impressed maker's mark is illegible. This pattern features a bamboo-lined shelf with a squat, decorated vase and a rectangular cartouche filled with an underwater scene of two fish swimming amongst coral and reeds, with a shell resting on the seabed. Behind the shelf are leafy bamboo stalks and a Japanese uchiwa fan decorated with geometric and stylized floral designs. Additional bamboo stalks are placed to the upper left and right and two small, oddly-shaped cartouches filled with line designs appear in the upper center.
