Beyond The Veil: Luminous Realms
Beyond The Veil: Luminous Realms expresses the idea that the multiverse is not wrapped in darkness but illuminated by infinite light and possibilities.
In Beyond the Veil: Luminous Realms, I am interested in exploring the multiverse and its dimensions—worlds that are invisible to our eyes and yet exist. Using light as a metaphor, these paintings become portals—a slit in the fabric of time and space—to invite viewers to engage with the interplay between the visible and invisible and discover the profound beauty that lies beyond our immediate perception.
Focused on creating a sense of transparency on the canvas, this series marks a transition from fluid works to an exploration of the structured language of geometric abstraction. Transparency and depth are key, reflecting the layered complexity of the invisible worlds I seek to capture. The final images juxtapose transparent layers of sharp strokes with fluid, soft areas and lines to create a sense of tension between structure and fluidity, order and chaos.
By building layer upon layer of thin paint in a diverse palette, my goal is to capture the essence of invisible worlds, where light unveils the hidden beauty of the unknown.
Indigo Dreaming
Indigo Dreaming was born from a desire to explore connection, transformation, and the unexpected beauty that emerges when we let go of control. The series began with blue—a color that feels infinite, like the vast sky or ocean, full of depth and possibility. From there, as I poured the colors, I allowed them to find their own rhythm, blending freely and creating something unique as they interacted with one another.
I also wanted to examine the balance between control and freedom. By relinquishing the need to dictate every outcome, I created space for transformation—allowing each painting to evolve in ways I couldn’t predict. This process reflects my belief that true beauty arises when we embrace the unpredictability of life and art. The series also explores how individuality and interconnectedness coexist. Each color, like a culture or identity, remains true to its essence while mixing and contributing to a greater whole. This concept of blending and honoring diversity lies at the heart of Indigo Dreaming. It’s about creating a space where differences are not just accepted but celebrated, where unexpected interactions lead to something harmonious and rich.
Indigo Dreaming is about embracing change, welcoming surprises, and finding beauty in what emerges when boundaries dissolve. It serves as a reminder that when we come together with openness and respect, the most beautiful things happen.
New World
In creating New World, I sought to explore the vastness of the universe through multiple perspectives, inspired by childhood memories of stargazing. As a child, I was captivated by the night sky—the endless twinkling stars, the sense of mystery, and the realization that there was so much beyond my understanding. This sense of wonder has stayed with me, shaping my artistic vision and fueling my desire to create a body of work that captures the essence of that vastness.
The images from the Hubble Telescope played a significant role in this exploration. They brought the distant, the unknowable, closer and revealed a beauty that was both intricate and infinite. These images inspired me not to replicate what I saw, but to evoke the feeling of space—the swirling colors, the textures, the layers. I wanted to convey the essence of the universe, a place filled with mystery, rather than a literal depiction.
New World is about presenting the universe as a mystery, something that invites curiosity and contemplation. By using multiple perspectives, I wanted to challenge the viewer’s perception. Is this a landscape or a nebula? A distant island or a point in deep space? This ambiguity is central to the work. It allows for interpretation and invites the viewer to engage with the image, to question what they see, and perhaps, to feel that same sense of wonder I experienced as a child looking up at the stars.
Ultimately, New World is not just about the vastness of space; it’s about the experience of encountering something beyond our comprehension and finding beauty in the mystery of it all. Each piece is a reflection of the infinite possibilities of what lies beyond our reach and the questions that continue to arise as we look into the unknown.
Oceans of Crystalline
The Pacific Ocean's salts are silently transforming California’s landscape, creeping into freshwater supplies and farmlands with devastating consequences. Seawater intrusion leaves behind saline residues that disrupt the balance of ecosystems, jeopardizing future crops and wildlife. Witnessing these changes, I felt compelled to explore this environmental challenge through my creative practice.
Oceans of Crystalline emerged from my desire to understand and visually represent the profound impact of saltation on our environment. By transforming my studio into a lab, I immersed myself in the science of crystallization. Growing salt crystals became both an experiment and a metaphor for the ways salt interacts with and alters its surroundings. The process of mixing mineral solutions and observing crystals form on organic materials, found objects, branches, and paper mirrors the transformations happening in nature.
Crystallization, for me, is more than a process; it is a language. Each intricate texture, delicate formation, and layered composition speaks to the complexity of this issue. Through these works, I hope to inspire viewers to reflect on the impact of human actions on the environment and the urgent need for conservation.
These works, offered as limited edition prints on archival paper, invite reflection on how we can care for our planet before its balance is irreversibly altered.
