This 39.4" x 31.5" acrylic painting on linen by Warsaw, Poland-based artist Ewa Miazek-Mioduszewska depicts red rats facing one another, gazing up at a strawberry. The color scheme features a blue and green landscape, with green vegetation and cornstalks flowing in the wind around them. The strawberry the two creatures look up at appears as though it is levitating, and the rats are entranced. Miazek is particularly interested in the art of antiquity and medieval paintings, which influences her practice. In this work, the viewer might find that the two rats central to the scene are reminiscent of grotesques found in Books of Hours.
