This 19.7" x 27.6" acrylic paint and oil pastel work on paper by Tbilisi, Georgia-based artist Erekle Chinchilaskashvili features an aged figure, eyes covered by the rain jacket they wear as they stand in the storm. The cool blue tones and the mostly hidden expression of the figure could be a larger indicator of the inner emotion of the subject; grief, loneliness, or something else. The streams of blue that vertically span the canvas can be interpreted as either tears, rain or both.
Erekle Chinchilakashvili is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work focuses on the intersectionality of reality and imagination within human perception. Themes of individual and collective memory consistently appear throughout this artist's work, whether that be through painting, video, or installation. Chinchilakashvili's sources are frequently found in the archives of public domain.
