This four-color lithograph by well-known sculptor and prolific printmaker Alexander Calder features eight orange abstracted balloons. The balloons are reminiscent of his 'mobile' sculptures, the name for which having been coined by Marcel Duchamp, which are considered some of the most distinguishable works in his complete oeuvre. The print is hand-signed by the artist in the bottom righthand corner, and the initials E.A. in the bottom lefthand corner stand for 'Épreuve d'Artiste' - Artist's Proof.
The print measures at 11" x 13" and is accompanied by a 19.5" x 22" gold metallic frame. As a four-color lithograph, the colors are created through the use of magenta, yellow, black and blue and are manipulated through the repetitive process of layering each hue - called process colors - to achieve the desired color.
