This 20" x 16" digital pigment print on 22" x 17" paper by native Oklahoma photographer Jon Burris is soft with fragile, high definition detail and quiet with a cohesive spectrum of color. The composition of this work nearly gives it a stage presence, the clear central focus being the pure white flowers in the floral arrangement against the strong, solid black background. Burris digitally alters the image in his process, purposefully creating a challenge to the perspective of the viewer. The placement of the subject - overlapping in intersecting layers, although less so in this work than compared to previous ones - is both rooted in an assured confidence of Burris as a seasoned, experienced artist and curator and concretely defines the aesthetic for his larger Organic Abstraction series.
