'Forgotten Idols II' by Katarina Dordevic, Acrylic on Canvas, Painting, 2007

This 32.25" x 46" painting by artist Katarina Dordevic features a key idea of the artists work. The transfiguration of artifacts in contemporary context. In this work Dordevic's central figures are several biomorphic fossil like forms. Per the artist, the two larger forms are representative of Eros and Tanatos marked by human expression. The artist has used a drip technique to ad depth ot the surrounding fossil forms. In In the lower fourth of the canvas Dordevic has used textural marks to separate the two planes in the work. Dark colors of brown, navy, black, and rust, turquoise and orange are present throughout.

'Forgotten Idols II' has been exhibited across Serbia, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Katarina Dordevic, a painter, printmaker, lives in Nis, Serbia. Dordevic received her MFA in Painting in 1994 from University of Arts in Belgrade, where she currently works as a professor of painting while working on a Doctorate in Fine Arts.
