This oil on canvas painting by Peter Healy is a commentary on the environment and the impact of global climate change. The title, "Environmental Tonglen", is adapted from a Buddhist meditative practice of giving and receiving that widely relates to and can be used to redirect eco-anxiety. The dark grey clouds and smoke mask a polluted sun, and the densely populated cityscape below is trapped in the smog. The urban community is primarily expressed through abstracted shapes, horizontal lines, and pops of color.

Peter Healy is a Northern Irish artist now based in Houston. He received a degree from the University of Central Lancashire in illustration and graphic design. A multidisciplinary artist, Healy uses oil and acrylic paints, ink, wood, collage and more.
