MessageBio
Caroline Davis has an extensive metal arts background. She received her Bachelor of Arts in 2001 studying primarily metal casting and fabrication on a sculptural scale. After working for several years in the Seattle arts industry as a public art fabricator, Caroline continued her education at the University of Washington and received a Master of Architecture. In 2010, Caroline took her first jewelry class. It was immediately clear that jewelry fabrication was the perfect marriage of her interests in metal, making and design.
Originally from Charleston, SC, Caroline has made the Seattle area her home for the last 20 years. When not in her studio, Caroline enjoys spending time outside with her family, hiking, skiing, cycling and swimming her way through the PNW.
Artist Statement
Creo means both ‘to make’ and ‘to believe’.
Creo Studio Jewelry offers handmade jewelry that celebrates metal and design. The work of Creo is fueled by Caroline’s background in architecture, large scale metal fabrication and sculpture. Creo jewelry is bold, simple and unique. Caroline’s work focuses on form, shape, positive and negative space, line, contrast and texture. She uses mixed metals including sterling silver, brass, gold fill and gold. She uses a variety of fabrication techniques including soldering, forming, hammering, texturing, roll-printing and keum-boo. Caroline often uses black patina on sterling silver to create contrast between elements. Caroline uses modern and minimal shape making and compositions combined with embossed textures, patterns and patinas to create work that has a rich and layered depth.
