Statement
The primary goal of my work is to explore and visually express the ancient, archetypal currents that influence all humans everywhere through religion, spiritual practice, folklore, and dreams. I aim to draw parallels and reveal intersections between geographically disparate cultures, honoring the fundamental, psychic trueness of stories and legends discarded as ‘myths’ under Western and Judeo-Christian influence. As a queer trans person, this kind of exploration and examination not only comes naturally, but feels mandatory.
Through use of color, pattern, and symbolism, I hope to spark a feeling of recognition - of being in the presence of something very old, yet not remote; a sense of talismanic protection, if not exactly safety; of remembering the message, even if the source has been forgotten.
