Anja Studer was born and raised in Switzerland and became an environmental activist at a very young age, feeling a deep need to protect the world we live in. She studied fine arts at the École de design et haute école d’art du Valais (édhéa, formerly known as ECAV). When Anja moved to Canada, she continued her fine arts studies at the University of Manitoba and graduated from Red River College with a diploma in photography. She currently splits her time between Canada and Switzerland and continues to create, exhibit, and sell her art in Europe and Canada.
Her work includes illustration, painting, embroidery, sculpture, installation, and photography. Anja’s past exhibitions have focused on human existence through abstract landscapes and animal portraits. Her most current series of work explores the negative impact humans have on the wildlife we share this world with.
In 2017 she published her first colouring book titled “Familiar Friends” featuring a series of animal illustrations.
