Call for Entry - Seeing Each Other: Portraits in Time and Place

The Northern Illinois University Art Museum is seeking visual art interpretations on the theme of "portraiture", from realistic likenesses (including an artist’s self-portrait) to more conceptual interpretations and portrayals of an individual or group. Entries will be evaluated on professionalism of execution, inventiveness of concept and capture of subject’s uniqueness.
Deadline for all entries: Materials must be postmarked by Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Online submissions may be loaded until 11:59 p.m. on June 12.
Works will be selected by invitation and from a national call for entry by NIU Art Museum staff members and the museum’s Exhibition Advisory Committee.
The NIU Art Museum is currently accepting submissions in all media. This call is open to all artists in the United States 18 years of age or older. Two people must be able to handle and install the submitted artwork which must also fit through a single door (36” wide x 84” tall).
Entry Fee: $35.
The exhibition will take place from August 27 to October 19, 2024.

One of the first and most comprehensive arts in healthcare programs in the nation, Gifts of Art brings the world of art and music to Michigan Medicine at the University of Michigan. Our nine 2-D and 3-D galleries throughout the medical center are viewed by thousands of people each day and display over 30 exhibits per year. · Artwork accepted for the exhibit must be for sale. Blue Cat Gallery will receive a 25% commission for each work sold from the exhibit. Payment for works sold during the show will be issued within 30 days of the end of the exhibit.
About the Juror: Lori Elliott-Bartle
Primarily a painter, Lori Elliott-Bartle also makes woodcut and linoleum prints and mixed-media pieces. She binds blank journals and creates art books. She finds inspiration in vast expanses of sky and prairie as well as in her small urban garden, and in fleeting moments of daily life.
Her work is shown in commercial galleries in Omaha and she participates in juried group shows regionally. Lori’s work was included in the 2023, 2019 and 2017 Nebraska Artist Biennials. She was an artist in residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in 2023 and has completed two sessions in the Plank Road Artist Residency at Farwell House in Frederick, Illinois. She also has done an artist residency at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Cedar Point Biological Station in rural western Nebraska.

2025 Tim Murphy Art Gallery Call for Artists

Step 1. Guidelines and process for selection
Each artist must submit their own application.
Must be able to display 16 - 25 works.
You may request to exhibit with another artist. Placement is not guaranteed.
Selected artists must not have exhibited in a monthly show in any medium within the past 2 years at the Tim Murphy Art Gallery.
Applications are reviewed by a committee.
Notification will be sent no later than the week after Labor Day.

How artist selection works:
A committee selects artists for exhibitions.
The committee may assign more than one artist per exhibition.
Step 5.Gallery policies
Accepted artists must follow these guidelines:
All exhibited 2D works must be matted and framed unless wrap around canvas technique is utilized.
Accepted artist must sign gallery agreement.
90% of displayed artwork must be for sale.
Gallery commission is 30% of sales.
3-D mediums displayed on pedestals.
Insurance is the responsibility of the artist.
Artists Responsibility
It will be the responsibility of the artist to deliver or ship accepted work to arrive at the gallery no later than the Sunday prior to the exhibit opening night.
Artist will provide a complete listing of titles and sales price of exhibited work no later than 7 days in advance of show.
Artist shall accept the responsibility for providing insurance on artwork and shall hold the city harmless.
At least 90% of the works shown by accepted artist must be available for sale.
Artist will agree to leave work on exhibit until the conclusion of the show, and remove work within one week of the conclusion of the show.

Please Read Instructions Carefully:
All work must be original and must have been completed within the last three years.
Up to three submissions per artist will be accepted.
All 2D artwork must be framed (except for gallery wrapped canvas), wired and ready to hang. No exceptions.
2D artwork must not exceed 4' wide x 5' high
3D work may not exceed 6.5' x 2.5' x 7*and not exceed 200 pounds. Heavier work will be considered, but the artist will need to contact [email protected]
All works must be available for sale. When pricing, please be aware that the artist receives 70% of the sale and SullivanMunce Cultural Center retains a 30% commission. Sold pieces must remain on display through the conclusion of the exhibit.
One image per 2D work and 2 images per 3D work.
Images must be formatted as JPEGS and not exceed 3MB.
Images must be rotated for correct orientation. Images of 2D work SHOULD NOT include the frame or wall behind it. Images of 3D work should have a neutral background to be clear as possible.
The entry form asks for Description. This is where you describe the Process/Technique used to create the work. Techniques are not materials; they are the process that should be noted in the description along with the materials. The description is only to describe the art making process. It is NOT an artist's statement or philosophy.
Examples: Acrylic on Canvas, Mixed Media, Glazed Ceramic, Lithograph printed with Litho Ink on Archival Paper, etc.
*We encourage you to use Acrylic, polystyrene, or Plexiglas in place of real glass in framed artworks*

PLEASE NOTE:
The SullivanMunce Cultural Center reserves the right to reject any artwork due to inadequate preparation for installation, or for potential security or public safety issues. Any accepted and delivered works which differs in quality or are not representative of the digital file may be disqualified at the discretion of the Gallery Director.
Works not collected within 30 days of the close of the exhibition will become the property of SullivanMunce Cultural Center.
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTED WORKS: On or before August 17, 2024. Jurors will choose accepted pieces and artists will be notified by email of acceptance. Notification emails will come from:

DELIVERY OF SELECTED WORK: All artists are asked to deliver their work Tuesday, September 3, 2024, through Friday, September 6, 2024, between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM or Saturday, September 7, 2024, between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM unless other arrangements are made with the SullivanMunce Cultural Center. All artists must sign a loan agreement upon the delivery of their work to the gallery.
Artists who ship their work must print a copy of the Loan Agreement (it will be emailed to the artists upon request), sign it and email it back or send it along with their shipped work.
It is the responsibility of the artist to transport and insure (if desired) works in transit to and from the Gallery. Shipped work must be packed in reusable containers to be returned by post, clear shipping instructions must be included, as well as shipping labels, FedEx, or UPS prepaid labels, or prepaid USPS postage. Artists must sign the Loan Agreement upon delivery of their work to the gallery.
PICK UP ART: Tuesday, October 29, 2024 - Friday, November 1, 2024 between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM. or Saturday, November 2, 2024 between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM unless other arrangements are made with the SullivanMunce Cultural Center.
Works not sold and retrieved by the artist or artist's proxy should be collected after the closing of the exhibition on the dates specified above.

Submit your work to show at Blue Cat
Blue Cat runs exhibits from March or April to December each year. Most exhibits are scheduled for two months, but exceptions may be made. Submit a proposal for an individual or group show. Include the following information and materials listed below when submitting your proposal.
