Amany Fawzy (b.1972)
Sculptor and ceramic artist with over thirty years of professional experience in contemporary visual art. In her practice, clay becomes a medium for reflection on memory and existence, transforming mass into a space for visual contemplation rather than direct representation. Her works emerge from an intimate engagement with material, where forms become silent entities bearing the imprint of time and human emotion.
Her approach is expressive and experimental, drawing inspiration from the human figure and nature, while exploring the delicate balance between mass and void, stillness and transformation. The human form appears as a trace or visual resonance rather than a literal depiction, while space plays an active role in shaping meaning. Surfaces serve as archives of gesture, pressure, and the layered processes of creation.
Amany Fawzy has participated in major solo and group exhibitions in Egypt, including the Palace of Arts at Cairo Opera House, Mahmoud Mokhtar Museum, Mahmoud Said Museum in Alexandria, and Gezira Art Center, alongside leading contemporary galleries in Cairo.
Internationally, her works have been exhibited in museums and cultural institutions in Serbia, Croatia, and Germany, as well as in exhibitions and art events at both the local and international levels.
In addition to her artistic practice, Fawzy brings extensive expertise as a juror and member of multiple committees in the arts and cultural sector, contributing professionally to the evaluation of artworks and exhibitions at institutional and professional levels.
Her works are held in public and institutional collections, including the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, as well as in private collections and museums across Egypt, Europe, and the Arab region.
