Suzan Elwakil is a fine artist based in Alexandria, Egypt. She developed a passion for drawing from an early age, which later evolved into a focused artistic practice during her studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts. Her work centers on portraiture, with a strong emphasis on self-portraiture as a tool for introspection and emotional expression.
Suzan views her art as both a release of inner energy and a personal archive—a space where she reflects on memory, identity, and the complexities of the self. Over time, this introspection has grown into a broader exploration of emotional presence through the faces of others, blurring the boundaries between self and surroundings.
She graduated in 2024 with a BFA in Set Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University. Her work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including three consecutive editions of the AGENDA Exhibition at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (2022, 2023, 2024), the Easel & Camera Summer Exhibition (2023), Gen-Z Disconnected View at Shelter Art Space (2023), the Youth Salon 33rd Edition at the Palace of Arts (2023), Self Exhibition at The Art Gallery (2023), and Borrowed Illusions at Nile Art Gallery (2025).
Through her evolving practice, Suzan Elwakil continues to explore the emotional resonance of the human face, using portraiture as a means of self-discovery and connection.
