Samiha Tohamy is an Egyptian visual artist and art lecturer in the Drawing and Painting Department at the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University, Cairo. Born with a deep commitment to artistic exploration, she graduated from the Faculty of Art Education in 2013 with a grade of Excellent with Honors. She earned her Master's degree in Art Education in 2018 with a thesis on "Mail Art through Coding Theory and Social Communication as an Approach to Artistic Expression," and completed her PhD in Art Education in 2024 with a thesis on "Conceptual Approaches to the Artist's Stylistic Transformation as a Starting-point for Enriching the Creative Experience in Contemporary Art."
Her artistic practice spans painting, drawing, and mixed media, with a conceptual focus on stylistic transformation, communication, and contemporary expression. She held her first solo exhibition, Astral Projection, at the Mahmoud Mokhtar Cultural Center in Zamalek in 2025.
Samiha has participated extensively in national group exhibitions, including multiple sessions of the Youth Salon (25th through 34th), the Nile River Autumn Salon, the October Festival of Peace at the Egyptian Opera House, the Pioneers Exhibition of the Association of Fine Arts Lovers, the Black and White Salon, and Nun wa Foun at Picasso Art Gallery in Zamalek (2025).
Internationally, her work has been featured in the International Exhibition of Post Art at Alexandria Atelier, the Biennale for Small Painting in Alexandria, the International Upper Egypt Salons in Luxor (3rd, 4th, and 5th editions), the Ostraca Youth International Biennale at Al-Ahram Newspaper, the Luxor International Visual Arts Salon, the Luxor International Painting Symposium (2018), and multiple editions of the DAI Arab Youth Festival (2018, 2020, 2024). In 2025, she participated in the Contemporary Art Exhibition (PDA) under the patronage of the French Embassy.
Her accolades include the Grand Award of the 3rd International Upper Egypt Salon on behalf of the British University (2015), the Pioneers Competition Award (58th session) in the name of artist Ayda Abdel-Karim (2018), the Luxor International Symposium Participation Award (2018), a Drawing Award at the Youth Salon (2021), and an Award at the Youth Salon (2024).
Samiha has also participated in the Luxor International Painting Symposium (2018) and the International Art Residency – Workshop and Exhibition in Chittaurgarh, India (2019). Her works are held in acquisitions by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, private collections locally and abroad, and the Hindiyeh Museum in Jordan.
Through her teaching, research, and studio practice, Samiha Tohamy continues to contribute to Egypt's contemporary art landscape, bridging academic inquiry with expressive visual language.
