Stewarts Bay Corner

Tasmania’s plethora of little coves, bays and beaches makes for an interesting coastline and coming into Stewarts Bay after a walk on the Tasman Peninsula, I knew it was special. Drawn by the purity of this timeless landscape, the luminescence of the water, and the sculptural shoreline and trees. A gouache sketch and photographs inspired this piece. Painting it with a palette knife lends another aspect to the image, one of sculptural texture, exploiting the buttery lusciousness of oils and the wonderful randomness of colour transfer.
