Double sided screen composed of 104 copper panels (218mm x 105mm each), etched on both sides, commissioned for the main saloon of a bespoke, 69 meter, superyacht

The curve of the screen conforms to the main saloon’s layout and allows light to filter between the panels. The shipyard designed the frames so that the vertical rows of panels hang rigidly from the twined S hooks with exactly 30 mm of space between. I engineered the rows horizontally to ensure the panels conform to the screen’s curvature without rotating. To complement the client’s request of white pigment in the recessed areas, I chose to high polish the raised areas and patinate the backgrounds in burgundy and blue hues so they glow in the sun-filled space, especially at sunrise and sunset.

Installed, columns hide the frame’s sides. Brass moldings with recessed lighting conceal the rails at the floor and ceiling. The superyacht’s owner has not released images of the installed screen.
