This work is about seeking to make visible the invisible sky. I'm interested in both the observable and unseen objects and elements that connect us and everything in our world, to the larger universe and its origins. Using near invisible light and solar spectrum imagery as a reference point, a graphic language of lines emerges that can reveal otherwise imperceptible details about the stars in the sky and our interconnection with them. In stellar spectroscopy, starlight can be decoded to find out about a star’s chemical makeup, temperature, motion and sometimes whether it is one star or part of a multiple star system. The light waves are separated into a spectrum of colors with dark, vertical lines throughout. I'm intrigued by the idea of reading these graphic patterns of horizontal, vertical lines and rectangles, to tell us what, and where we are.
