The title of this piece is a reference to Rene Magritte's painting "16th of September," which is where I got the idea to include the cut-out crescent moon.

Evan Halter (b. 1990 Cincinnati, OH; lives and works in New York, NY) combines imagery sourced from Renaissance paintings with an interest in the vocabularies of minimalism and geometric abstraction. In 2013 he graduated with a BFA in Painting from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, and received his MFA from Rutgers University in 2016. Solo exhibitions of Halter’s work include Reflections, The Gallery at W83, New York, NY (2020); Vanitas, The Java Project, Brooklyn, NY (2018); Partitions, Clay St Press, Cincinnati, OH (2018); Thresholds, Mom's, New York, NY (2017); and The Aesthetics of Perfection, Neon Heater, Findlay, OH (2014).
