Evan Halter

American

b. 1990

Evan Halter (b. 1990 Cincinnati, OH; lives and works in New York, NY) combines imagery sourced from Renaissance paintings with an interest in the vocabularies of minimalism and geometric abstraction. In 2013 he graduated with a BFA in Painting from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, and received his MFA from Rutgers University in 2016. Solo exhibitions of Halter’s work include Reflections, The Gallery at W83, New York, NY (2020); Vanitas, The Java Project, Brooklyn, NY (2018); Partitions, Clay St Press, Cincinnati, OH (2018); Thresholds, Mom's, New York, NY (2017); and The Aesthetics of Perfection, Neon Heater, Findlay, OH (2014). His work has also been included in numerous two-person and group exhibitions, such as The New Iconographies, SPRING/BREAK Art Show, New York, NY; memoirs, Pablo’s Birthday, New York, NY (2020); The Hawt Show II, Rolando Anselmi Gallery, Atina, Italy (2020); The Barn Show 2019, Johannes Vogt Gallery, East Hampton, New York (2019); 11 Under 30, Ille Arts, Amagansett, NY (2017); Friend: MFA Thesis Exhibition, Mason Gross Galleries, New Brunswick, NJ (2016).
