Based in Seattle, WA, Allyce Wood received her MFA from the Kunsthøgskolen I Oslo in Norway and furthered her textile studies at the Universitetet I Bergen. She received her BFA from Cornish College. Wood has been artist in residence at the Praxis Fiber Workshop, and the Icelandic Textile Center in Blönduós, Iceland. In her studio, Wood creates work on digital and analog looms, a marudai, and a knitting machine. To her, the loom acts as a mediator between traditional and computerized technologies, offering a unique way to balance coded systems with human impulse. Recent solo exhibitions appeared Gallery 4Culture and the White River Valley Museum. Her work has shown at institutions including the Tacoma Art Museum and MadArt in Seattle. Wood has produced public art projects with The City of Edmonds, the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, ando others. Her work is supported through institutions including 4Culture, Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond, Norway, Artist Trust, and the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.
