Palm Fronds, Hosannah #1, 2024

Based off the quilt block Palm Leaves, also named Hosannah, batiked fabrics fan out and frame a mundane throne. The artist recalls the mysterious Florida swamps of her youth, where deep in the woods these plastic chairs would sit seemingly ready for just her and her friends. Each piece creates a holiness for the everyday youth culture in the south.
