For House A003, I focused on the layout of my childhood home in creating this installation. Photographs from my family's photo albums were organized according to the rooms and spaces in which they were originally made. Each image in the frame is layered with varying opacities to convey the idea of memories as continuous and blending. After creating the layout, I considered the importance of touch and time spent experiencing the photos within the family album. The viewing experience of family albums presents an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and recollect, while exchanging stories of events that may or may not be linked to the photographs displayed. As such, I reintroduced touch as embroidered traces of my hands over aspects of the collaged images. I also cut into aspects of the installation to present multiple perspectives to view through and from, encouraging the viewer to pause and consider their bodily interaction with the piece.
