Wars, mining resources, A.I, a kaleidoscope of talking heads weighing in with being a caretaker, the importance of touch and nurturing, being sensitive to micro signals and also the sacrifices that come with this attention towards others has never been more important. SLOW Proposal
My proposed pieces for this show touch upon the idea of making with drifts and delays. Experiments with materials, tests of colors, mistakes, cut outs and their negative spaces often create new ways of seeing My interests in the landscape, the human body, and human behavior have led me toward a handmade, D.I.Y. aesthetic that embraces crudeness, error, and the unexpected. Through mixed media installations made with environmentally conscious materials, both found, recycled, and handmade, I stitch drawings, weaving themes of rupture and repair. The process is varied and porous; accidents migrate from one piece into another, becoming connective tissue rather than discarded remnants. Each work carries traces of what came before it, forming a quiet ecology of reuse, intuition, and transformation.
