Carrier of Memory explores personal memory, cultural heritage, and contemporary identity through themes of motherhood, resilience, and belonging. Inspired by Bangladeshi folk traditions, rural crafts, and the traditional Tepa Putul form, the sculpture uses textured surfaces, symbolic ornamentation, and expressive curves to connect heritage with contemporary ceramic language. The maternal figure becomes both vessel and shelter, reflecting emotional strength, sacrifice, and care shaped by experiences in Bangladesh and the United States. By combining Bangladeshi motifs with references to Louisiana’s magnolia and bayou landscapes, the work preserves memory while inviting empathy and cross-cultural connection.
