The Foster's Big Game Legacy Collection from The Foster's Curator

To whom it may concern,

I’d like to leave a few notes about the collection, and navigating this portfolio.

Each mount is named, as well as numbered for easy identification. Condition notes are available with every photo, as well as a 1983 appraisal by master taxidermist, Jack Perry.

The fascination over this collection in its entirety has created a publication history over the years, ranging from the local newspaper, all the way up to the National Library Of Congress. Including: books, magazines, blogs, television appearances, and endless photographs. The publication record for the entire collection can be found along with the Grevy’s Zebra portfolio portrait.

Artistically, the collection is mind blowing. It takes talent and dedication to create such a variety of mounts with the all complexities involved. Some pieces are currently in perfect condition after almost a century of being displayed. This artistic achievement is testament to the skill of master taxidermist, John Jonas.

What makes this collection so unique is the time in history when it was assembled; and the amount of effort taken to collect, preserve, and eventually display each piece. The Foster’s Big Game Legacy Collection is as authentic and relevant as any substantial fine art collection; it can’t be replicated, replaced, or forgotten.

Yours Sincerely,

Chris Wakeman
