"INDIAN FESTIVAL" - HOSEIN by SYBIL ATTECK (1959)
Of the several picturesque festivals in Trinidad the "Ho sein" celebration, aspects of which are shown in this oil pain ting, is unique. Drumming, moon dancing, fire-dancing, and stick fighting are featured with the elaborately constructed paper and bamboo tadjah which is dumped in the river or sea after 24 hours of celebration.
Atteck has studied in U.S.A. and Britain and travelled extensively. She is a qualified art teacher and anrganizer of activities. Her work is semi-objective in style.
