THE EXHIBIT
SUPER SECRET PROJECTS is proud to present An Unmoored Presence, a solo show by Natalie Downey which transforms the gallery into an immersive experience of fragmented memory and selfhood. The exhibition examines healing from child abuse while living with complex post-traumatic stress disorder. Mixed media installations and sculptures inhabit the space, creating an uncanny household, haunted and uncoupled from time. These pieces offer the audience a glimpse into the experience of dissociation, flashbacks and the search for embodiment. The artist invites the audience to contemplate these difficult realities while celebrating the extraordinary ability of the human psyche to endure and make meaning. By centering her own story of survival, she hopes to encourage dialogue about the true scale and impact of child abuse in our society.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Natalie Downey is a multidisciplinary artist living in New York’s Hudson Valley. Her work explores the mind’s ability to survive, process, and heal from complex trauma, using the language of symbolism and myth as both tools of expression and unconscious guides.
