Inspired by Foscarini's classic deconstructed Filo lamp, bold abstracted elements float on the canvas; painted as a single larger work, but comprised of a series of nine smaller canvasses. The artwork is then further deconstructed wherein each smaller canvas is dislodged from the whole and set adrift, coming to rest in their own place, much like the islands of Venice. Foscarini speaks to the lure and materiality of tangible objects, and to the duality of attachment and separation.
