Hawthorne immerses the viewer in a re-interpreted visual text which references Nathaniel Hawthorne's investigation of love, guilt, and hypocrisy. With a palette that sharpens a sense of foreboding, the composition nonetheless emphasises the possibility of redemption and underscores the complexity of human relationships. Troubled, powerful, and complex, the work simultaneously obfuscates and reveals the simple truth of human love.
