Over the last few years I began painting a series of pieces I would describe as abstracted portraiture. These creation of these works happened to coincide with the expanded usage of Identity Pronouns as a symptom of a broadening allowance and new fluidity surrounding manifestations of gender identity.
This work is a more contemporary expression of many of the more elemental expressions of faces and figures in some of my earlier work, as depicted in Series 1 of the residency, titled “Tapestry, Faces, Masks and Markings”
