Playing with Fire draws on my grandmother’s ephemera, integrating maps as a metaphor for the roads we travel and the ways our lives intersect. Her love of travel and habit of collecting maps deeply influenced the direction of this work, as well as its companion pieces. The gestural marks and scratches convey my own nervous energy during a period of searching—an exploration of both path and voice.
