Rivers Stream, 2024

River Stream
This vibrant abstract landscape captures the dynamic essence of moving water through expressive brushwork and a luminous color palette. Bold strokes of cerulean and cobalt blue sweep across the left side of the composition, while golden ochres, earthy browns, and sage greens create depth and movement throughout. Touches of white and cream suggest sunlight dancing on water's surface, while deeper burgundies and umbers anchor the composition with shadows and dimension.
The layered application of oil over acrylic subpainting creates rich textural depth, with areas of transparency revealing the underlying work and adding complexity to the visual experience. Gestural marks flow across the canvas in rhythmic patterns that evoke the constant motion of a stream, the interplay of light and shadow, and the organic forms found along riverbanks.
The square format contains this energetic movement while the balanced composition draws the eye through the painting in a circular flow. The work invites contemplation of nature's fluidity and the ever-changing quality of water and light, distilled into an abstract vocabulary of color, texture, and gesture.
