- Jesse Amado
- Edition. Artist Proof (From edition of: 2 PPs, 10 APs, 40 edition prints)
Jesse Amado’s 2001 digital print "Fury of Love," made in collaboration with Hare & Hound Press, depicts, as the title suggests, the fury or frenzy that occurs at the beginning and end of a romantic relationship. In the center of the print, a coiled piece of vinyl tape rests between a love letter written by an ex-girlfriend at the beginning of their relationship and a letter written at the end of it. The letters on either side of the print are clearly typed out over 24 lines of vinyl embossed tape, while the curled black piece of vinyl in the center only hints at its contents, with short words and phrases peeking out. Through the print we absorb the ephemerality of this relationship, while the artist captures it in an almost eternal way.

Artist: Jesse Amado
Known for art that is conceptually based and highly formal, Jesse Amado’s practice occupies the minimal space that hovers between life and art. His work is imbued by the symbolic power of image-making and its formal or stylistic potentialities. One of his recurring themes centers on a precise choice of materials that allow him to transform those into something entirely different, and always with the purpose of conveying the human experience. His work is grounded in his Mexican American heritage, South Texas aesthetics and conceptual practices that are anchored in social realities, history and politics.
