This 34 page, limited edition book was created during Yuliya Lanina’s 2023 exhibition at Artpace, titled "Mother/Land," which explored the artist’s complex relationship with the war in Ukraine.
The exhibition’s centerpiece is a large animation composed from emotionally charged ink drawings she started making since the war began. The continuous scroll of images represents the artist’s experience of the war from afar. The artworks in the book come from the drawings that Yuliya made into this animation.
Yuliya Lanina’s emphasis on handmade paper as the primary material in her art is a significant aspect of her creative approach, reflecting her handcrafted techniques.
