This large canvas is a floral work, with Large Florentine Lilies, symbols of the rich and powerful Medici Family. Perhaps at that time I really felt the need for a Patron, as Lorenzo de' Medici had been. Perhaps also, a profound Nostalgia for that unfortunate sister of mine, who bore the name of this beloved City. It must be said that I was actually going to Florence often at this time because of another important story. I knew like the back of my hand all the museums and all the churches, I had seen millions and millions of lilies, in frescos, printed matter, etc., and it is natural that sooner or later they would resurface in my Art.

Questa grande tela é un'opera fiorita, con Grandi Gigli Fiorentini, simboli della Famiglia dei Medici, ricca e Potente. Forse in quel periodo sentivo proprio il bisogno di un Mecenate, come lo era stato Lorenzo de' Medici. Forse una mia profOnda Nostalgia per quella disgraziata di mia sorella, che portava il nome di questa mia amata Città. C'é da dire che in effetti in questo periodo andavo spesso a Firenze per via di un'altra storia importante. Conoscevo come le mie tasche tutti i musei e tutte le chiese, avevo visto milioni e milioni di gigli, in affreschi, stampati ecc. ed é naturale che prima o poi essi sarebbero riemersi nella mia Arte.
