APRES VILLA MEDICI, 1987

"...the Spiritual Self's Image..."

Painted in Rome in 1987 on a large canvas given to me by Mario Schifano, this artwork is meant to record a large moving Star -male and female- that came to save me from a nightmare in which my biographical family was about to kill me.
The REAL STORY behind this painting HAPPENED in Rome while I was living at 46 Via della Pelliccia, Trastevere, in that famous apartment inherited by Holly Miller and Didier Canaux. I remember that the night before, me and that cosmic Roman family, Ernesto, Alberto, Fabio, Maria Sole, Nadia Ridolfini, went to a gala evening at Villa Medici. After the last drink at Bar San Calisto (now known for the movie “La Grande Bellezza”) I went to sleep very late and, on that night, a revolutionary philosophy would transform my life forever: it was the first STEP toward STELLINA. In fact, the huge STAR wrapped in a cloud of Light showed me the importance of the COSMIC FAMILY when the biological one fails.

Dipinta a Roma nel 1987 su una grande tela regalatami da Mario Schifano, quest'opera d'arte vuole registrare una grande Stella in movimento - maschile e femminile - venuta a salvarmi da un incubo in cui la mia famiglia biografica stava per uccidermi.
La VERA STORIA dietro a questo quadro È ACCADUTA a Roma mentre vivevo in via della Pelliccia 46, a Trastevere, in quel famoso appartamento ereditato da Holly Miller e Didier Canaux. Ricordo che la sera prima io e quella famiglia cosmica romana, Ernesto, Alberto, Fabio, Maria Sole, Nadia Ridolfini, andammo a una serata di gala a Villa Medici. Dopo l'ultimo drink al Bar San Calisto (ora conosciuto per il film La Grande Bellezza) andai a dormire molto tardi e in quella notte una filosofia rivoluzionaria avrebbe trasformato per sempre la mia vita: fù il primo PASSO verso la STELLINA. Difatti, l'enorme STELLA avvolta in una nuvola di Luce mi mostrò l'importanza della FAMIGLIA COSMICA quando quella biologica viene meno.
