I'm Done #7
- Monotype 3-D Relief Print
- 15 x 11 in
- Gail Shaw-Clemons
My sculptural/Monotype prints entitled: “Stick a fork in me, I’m done” led me back to color as a cathartic release from the horrors of 2020. A sense of powerlessness overcame me, which abruptly altered my ability to focus on my previous work. Color became a healing and rejuvenating vehicle that allowed me to take back my power. It was a needed cleansing of the soul and spirit. The title expresses, that pivotal point where one has had enough and commits to a drastically different way of processing information for the betterment of ones, sanity.
The technique of using rainbow rolls allowed many possibilities to blend colors and to work more intuitively. After creating more than 50 prints, the process of manipulating the different forms and shapes began, however, it wasn't my original intent during the printing process. Matching the forms with its background happened spontaneously
