- Annette Wilson Jones
Annette Wilson Jones received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She currently lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland. Born with a hereditary hearing loss that affected most of her family but was untreated for decades, some of her most recent work explores visual analogies of deafness. The paper for this piece was created in August 2022, in the "From Plants to Paper; Backyard Papermaking" class at Pyramid Atlantic. The painting is part of a series based on the "vacant" lot behind her house where, until recently, Black families had lived and raised children and, before that, Native Americans had lived and farmed the land.
