Half-Elephant
- Screenprint
- 14 x 23 in
- Mike Hagan
Framed: $250 Unframed: $150
It’s all about paper, printing, phi, & politics. 'Elephant' is a British paper size, 23”x28”. So, the 14x23” image is a half-elephant; 14 and 23 are from a Fibonacci series and 14/23 equals Phi, the ‘Golden Ratio’ used by artists. Printmakers use ink, but tattoos are “ink”, too; The upper left elephant’s rump has a “…RUMP" tattoo (which might be any word ending in “RUMP”). Nasal appendage is labeled “TRUNK”, but “NK” is not visible (and thus may be any word beginning with “TRU”). Politically, a half-elephant is not a full elephant. And, “elephant in the room” is a topic not discussed openly and freely.
