This project is a creative collaboration by Ayumi Ishii and Kate Copeland. We started with lead type (Spartan Heavy 48 point), made a silicone mold directly from the type, and then cast clear resin type from the silicone mold. We then used the clear resin letterpress type to create cyanotypes on Hahnemühle sumi-e paper; we translated the cyanotypes through inkjet in small editions; and we letterpress printed on top of that with wood type (Fancy Gothic 60 point) using transparent base on a Vandercook Universal I.
