The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, 2024

This triptych was created during Carlos Hernandez's 2024 Visiting Artist residency at Hatch Show Print. Working with Nick Larson, one of the designers at Hatch Show Print, Carlos was able to lend his unmistakable visual style to a trio of posters that were created using the 145 year old print shop's collection of antique wood type and hand-carved graphic elements and dingbats. Letterpress printed in just two colors, the prints are seriously artistic reimagined posters for a classic mid-century film, or life?

Carlos Hernandez is a founding partner of Burning Bones Press, a full-service printmaking studio located in the Houston Heights and has served as an instructor of Screen Printing at Rice University, Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts.
