Motherhood explores my first experience parenting a child. My nephew lived with us when he was 8 years old. He had experienced early childhood trauma due to his time in foster care. After he returned home, I wrote the text for the book while reflecting on our year of healing and growing together. He opened my eyes and heart to what it means to be a mom who cares deeply for their child's well-being even when that child was temporarily in their care.
Motherhood is an artist book with Intaglio and letterpress print on Flurry cotton paper with Intaglio copper plate covers and Coptic stitch housed in a handmade portfolio box. 120 pages. Two books made with each as an Artist Proof due to text ink color change between the two books.
