This is Richard Kegler's homage to László Moholy-Nagy. “The Moholy Trinity” started with his 1922 D IV painting as main reference point. All shapes were found wooden blocks which were arranged in approximate alignment of the original, but layered somewhat differently. Two additional prints were made with the same shapes and ink colors but on two different colored paper stocks and a shifting arrangement. The same inks act differently on different stocks with varying degrees of opacity.
Letterpress printed by hand in 9 colors/impressions each
signed and numbered edition of 25 each

Artist Bio
As an experimental letterpress printer, my work is a constant exploration of the boundaries of traditional printmaking techniques and the innovative potential of the letterpress process. While rooted in the centuries-old art of letterpress printing, I push its limits by manipulating materials, experimenting with texture, and reimagining how type and image can coexist on the page.
The intersection between Fine Art and Graphic Design has always influenced my work. Undergraduate work in printmaking and bookbinding, solidified my interest in the traditional book-arts. My graduate work in Media Study led to type design and the founding of P22 Type Foundry. I helped establish the Western NY Book Arts Center in 2008. At Wells College (2014–2019), I directed the Book Arts Program. In these 3 years since selling off P22, I have established the Dry Inc letterpress printing studio.
