I completed this project during a weeklong residency at In Cahoots.
I wanted to play with creating a type-set scene on a 3-dimensional surface. I used the explosion book format to mimic hills & valleys. It was tricky to get all the type oriented in the correct direction.
The “fields” are printed from the backsides of wood type (a trick I learned as a Hatch Show Print intern), and the scenes are assembled from In Cahoots' collection of dingbats and ornaments.
