Chimborazo
- Linocut Relief Print on BFK Rives
- Némesis Zambrano
- Edition. 3
Chimborazo illustrates the inactive stratovolcano of the same name that is located in the Andes mountain range of South America. Chimborazo's peak exists uniquely as the furthest point from Earth's center. Sitting in the Ecuadorian Sierra, local folklore identifies Chimborazo as a son of Pachamama (Mother Earth). The riches bestowed on Chimborazo by Pachamama inspired locals to build their communities around the volcano. The colors used in this piece were meant to explore the vibrancy of these communities who live and grow around Chimborazo for as long as Pachamama will allow.
Némesis Zambrano is a first-generation Ecuadorian-American raised in Prince George's County, MD. She enjoys exploring different art mediums from 2D analog to time-based media and everything else in between. Némesis has always had a strong interest in learning more about her roots and exploring what her ancestors were like in pre-Columbian America, and art is a vehicle for that exploration. Additionally, Némesis enjoys experimenting with different media to explore other interests such as geek culture, social justice movements, philosophical ideas, and a love for animals.
