Print Center New York is delighted to present this delicious paper multiple by Pittsburgh-based interdisciplinary artist Imin Yeh. A Sculpture of A Snack is the first published edition to grow from Yeh’s cheeky paper sculptures that replicate food items—packets of soy sauce, sashimi, cubed “gallery cheese”—with mouthwatering verisimilitude. These works are just one part of Yeh’s playful, wide-ranging practice, in which paper is not just a surface for printing, but a vehicle that transforms the mundane into works of art meant to be savored.
This signed editioned paper sculpture includes a wooden stand for display and a handmade box for storage.
Imin Yeh is a project-based artist working in sculpture, installation, and participatory events. Her projects use print media as a technical tool for realizing large-scale work and print as a conceptual strategy for exploring free, exchange, and craft based economies. She utilizes repetitive handcraft and mimicry to examine the unseen labor and production behind our many unconsidered everyday objects. Yeh has held residencies at Montalvo Art Center (Saratoga, CA), Blue Mountain Center (New York), Sandarbh Artist Workshop (Partapur, India), and Recology San Francisco. She is an Associate Professor of Print Media at Carnegie Mellon University School of Art, and lives and works in Pittsburgh.
