2025 Mixed Media Work Complete. Original In Situ Photograph taken in Maragra, Mozambique, January 2015. I came upon a girl and her siblings at a turn-off of the main road to a dust road leading to a beach, and took this photo of the girl (who was about 10 years old then). Maragra is a town about 1 hour north of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique (South East Africa), and it was once the center of sugar production in southern Mozambique, serving South Africa. Now, it is a rural town that still relies on the sugar factory for local jobs, although even those are limited. I do not know her name and have not seen her since.
